New Tuck shop sweeties!

Today I discovered that "Mommy's Tuck shop" is a little under-stocked! So
while Lila and I were at Pick n Pay this morning we bought some yummy
goodies to fill up our basket again. Let me give you some background on
"Mommy's Tuck shop" and how it all began.

Some time last year I decided that it would be benificial for the girls to
start getting Pocket Money so that they can start learning about the value
of money. They each get R5 a week in R1 and R2 coins. First they put a R1
tithe into their Sunday purses, then they have to save R2 in their piggy
banks, and lastly they get to spend R2 at "Mommy's Tuck shop". I stock the
basket with R1 goodies, and occasionally add a R5 Barbie cup or R2 Bottle of
bubbles. These more expensive items have helped them to undersand that some
times some things just cost more than other things, and that you have to
make a decision as to what you feel is worth spending your money on. It has
also given them an opportunity to choose between immidiate gratification (a
sweet in each hand, now!) and delayed gratification (a really pretty Barbie
cup in 3 weeks time!). It has been very special to watch this life lesson as
they grapple with this dilemma, especially when one sister starts saving
sooner than the other and boasts a great cup while the other is a week
behind!

They are allowed to spend their savings when they've saved enough to buy
something big (over R15) or if they want to buy a small gift for someone.
