But while we were waiting, the grocer-on-wheels came and we ran out into the rain to catch him. It is a large truck with a shop on the inside, and 1 x friendly grocer.
The miscommunication had given Jacqui and I time to go for a walk: we walked to the local church and read some of the graves. It was quite symbolic of the church here in Holland, at least that is how it seems. BUT we had a great time to chat. Jacqui showed me some beautiful Frisian horses.
We got back for lunch at 12 and while that was being prepared I started working on the garden by clearing the paving of grass. Jacqui made us toasties with yummy cheese!
Then it was off to Workum for a drink and snack with Pappa via the village taxi. Pappa left early, and we stayed on to enjoy the surroundings.
We had various snacks, including croukette and ice-cream cones. One of the best things was sitting on a bench and having some 1-on-1 time, enjoying what was going on around us. Instead of spending E3 on a taxi ride home, we decided to walk and use the money to buy stuff! Jacqui saw some funky gardening gumboots, but didn't get them. We also saw cloggs on sale - but they were rediculously expensive. We did buy Zach some shoes. Also, we bought a purple Fanta, expecting it to be grape, but it was berry! - the fantas here are a lot more realistic flavours. Yum!
The walk home was a walk in the countryside. I can't say more - because i've said it before - BEAUTIFUL. I had some fun in making the sheep bleat my bleating loudly first!
Pappa made Nassi Goreng, a lovely Indonesian meal like paella, but not with fish.
